There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a good cocktail once in a while. This is especially true if you’re trying to lose weight and have taken on so-and-so diet with only one or two days a week wherein you’re entitled to “cheat”. Cheat days become even more special if you’re able to enjoy something you’ve always considered you’re winding down drink of choice.

However, it can even be more special if the cocktail you’ll make is from the same fruityou’re using for your weight loss smoothie or shake. One of the more popular fruits that smoothie drinkers enjoy mixing in their fruit smoothies is pomegranate. It is not only packed with numerous health benefits but it is also delicious.

Imagine having a versatile fruit that you can use both to satisfy your cocktail cravings and promote your weight loss journey. What’s more, you can still use pomegranate even if it’s not in season thanks to these tips for blending frozen fruit available online. This guide will help you get the most out of your pomegranate, frozen that is, even during off season days.

At any rate, here are four pomegranate cocktail recipes you can enjoy during your cheat days:

Pomegranate Manhattan. This is one of the tasty smoothies you could have, and these are the ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of pure pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/2 oz of whiskey
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters

Instructions. Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and fill it with ice. Shake or blend it for a few seconds after you feel that the outside is already cold to the touch. Strain it in a cocktail glass. If you prefer the cocktail to have a sweeter taste, add 1/2 tablespoon of simple syrup or fine sugar. However, when using sugar, make sure you have shaken the cocktail until the sugar dissolves.

Double-Pom Grenade. This cocktail utilizes both fresh grenadine and pomegranate juices that leave a savory aftertaste in your mouth. These are the ingredients.

  • 1/3 cup of pure pomegranate juice
  • 2 oz of dark rum
  • 1/3 cup of soda water or seltzer
  • 2 Tbsp of seltzer or grenadine
  • Squeeze of lime

Instructions. Stir all the ingredients. Pour it in a tall glass. Top it with ice, and decorate with the twist of lime.

Pomegranate Mimosas. This is probably the simplest cocktail to make. This recipe would make about eight servings. These are the ingredients.

  • 1 bottle of pre-chilled Champagne or Cava
  • 1 cup of chilled fresh orange juice
  • 2 cups of chilled pure pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 cup of Cointreau or orange liqueur

Instructions. Mix the fresh orange juice with the pomegranate juice in a big pitcher. Gradually add the wine, stir it gently. Serve right away in champagne flutes.

Pomegrante Sangria. This gives a unique twist to the conventional sangria recipe. It’s super delicious and super easy to make. This recipe is good for eight drinks.

  • 2 rosé wine bottles
  • 1 large of ripe orange
  • 1 large of green apple
  • 1 cup of raspberries

Instructions. Mix all ingredients in a big container and let chill for at least one hour before you serve it. You could also use extra frozen raspberries as ice cubes.
