The Big Bad Creepy Crawly Spiders

For those of you who are dog lovers, you would probably do anything to protect your pet from any harm or injury. They are a part of your family and you would most likely protect them like a child. No matter how big or small your dog is, they are unfortunately at risk for spider or insect bites that sometimes are beyond your control. The best thing you can do is educate yourself about the different kinds of spiders and insects that can potentially hurt your pet and to learn what you should do in case your dog is bitten by one of these insects.

Great Danes are considered to be the tallest dog breed in the entire world. They range from 100-200 pounds and can get upwards to 34 inches tall. The Great Dane is a very friendly dog and gets along with most other dogs regardless of breed. This however does not make them immune to bug and spider bites. The brown recluse spider has been known to bite dogs and be potentially fatal to them. If you notice a soreness in a particular area of your Great Dane or a dark lesion, you should see your veterinarian as soon as possible to get everything checked out.

Ticks can also cause a problem for your outside pets. When a dog gets bitten by a tick it is possible for them to suffer from tick paralysis. Some symptoms of this are vomiting, difficulty breathing and red gums. Sometimes your dog may even collapse after a tick bite. Make sure you do not give your dog any food or water until they are thoroughly checked out by a veterinarian. Even after the tick has been removed it is still extremely crucial that you seek medical attention for your pet immediately.

You may think that a dog with fleas is not a big deal but it is important to take the appropriate steps in order to prevent the spread of fleas as well as illness to your pet. Sometimes pets are allergic to fleas which can cause them to get allergic dermatitis. If your dog has sores due to scratching and other skin irritation it is extremely important to take care of the flea problem as soon as possible. There are many flea shampoos and collars available for your dog, but you must also thoroughly clean your home as fleas can live in your carpets and come back to cause you and your pet problems.

No matter what size or breed of dog you have you must take the right actions when it comes to bug and spider bites. Some can cause serious illness to your pets especially if not immediately taken care of.
